The West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island is not only Eco Tourism at its finest but one of the world’s most premiere and popular hiking trails, now with a new third entrance at Nitinat Lake.

Located in the Pacific Rim National Park along the west coast of Vancouver Island, the Ditidaht, Pacheedaht, and Huu-ay-aht ancestors have lived along these shores creating many of today’s hiking trails and paddling routes originally for the purpose of trade and travel.

If you’re a visitor wanting comfort for your trip to the West Coast Trail, the Ditidaht now offers a luxury tenting experience for all, whether you’re hiking the full rigorous 75km trail and searching for a warm restful night or just visiting for a couple of days.

Hiking & Walking

The West Coast Trail, 75 km of uneven terrain, is much more than a breathtakingly beautiful hike, it's the remnants of history that takes you through the footsteps of the First People. This challenging hiking trail requires careful preparation and planning, and takes 5-7 days to hike. Day hikes to spots such as Tsusiat Falls, Hole in the Wall, and Nitinat Lake are easily accessible. Nitinat Lake offers world class kiteboarding and windsurfing, kayaking, fishing, and whale watching.

Camping

A luxury tenting experience is available for everyone passing through the Tsuquanah Reserve at Tsuquadra Point. The four person 12 x 14 canvas tents come with a wood burning stove and firewood, wood floors, table and chairs, wide cots, and an outdoor deck with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The site is monitored by Ditidaht First Nation’s own trail Guardians and is located a short walk from the main trail in the pristine surroundings of traditional Ditidaht lands.
