It’s been over 25 years since Lewis and Cathy George created this successful First Nations owned and operated enterprise in Tofino, BC. Lewis & Cathy spoke with some of the local Elders and came up with the name “Himwitsa” which is derived from the Nuu-Chah-Nulth language translating as “Story Telling and the passing of knowledge from Elder to Youth.”


Art Gallery

The House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery specializes in fair trade First Nations artwork handcrafted by the region’s most talented and innovative Aboriginal artisan’s. Come view some of the world’s most sought after, award-winning, and authentic First Nations rare woven baskets, Maquinna hats, masks, carvings, and jewelry. Worldwide shipping is offered for all artwork.

Lodge

The Himwitsa Lodge is comprised of five beautiful suites overlooking the inner harbor of Tofino in the heart of Clayoquot Sound. All suites have full kitchenettes, full bath, WiFi, and satellite TV.

Come put your feet up and enjoy the variety of west coast wildlife that mingle together right off your balcony! You can see bald eagles, sea otters, land otters, harbor seals and if you are very lucky, killer whales and grey whales.

Restaurant

Enjoy some of the freshest seafood dishes on the coast as you take in the spectacular views and wildlife that traverse right in front of the restaurant’s dinning room.
