2015 Canada Winter Games

Prince George along with Official Host First Nation, Lheidli T’enneh, will be the first city in BC to host a winter edition of the Canada Games. The 2015 Canada Winter Games, the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be held in Prince George and Northern BC, will be taking place from February 13 – March 1, .

This is also the first time in the history of the Canada Games that an Official Host First Nation designation has been granted to a First Nation. The traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh stretches 4.3 million hectares from the Rocky Mountains to the Interior Plains and includes the City of Prince George. 19 sports ranging from traditional winter, traditional summer, Paralympic, and Special Olympic will make up the games and will also include:

  • Over 2,400 young Canadian athletes – ranging in age from 12 – 35
  • Over 1,000 coaches, team managers, and officials
  • 13 teams: ten provinces and three territories
  • 18 days of the 2015 Canada Winter Games
  • 14 days of official competition
