2017 Fall Stakeholder Forum and AGM

AtBC is proud to be hosting its 2017 Annual General Meeting and Stakeholder Forum from October 11-12 at Musqueam Cultural Centre and The Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport. Over 75 Aboriginal tourism Stakeholders and partners are expected to attended from all areas of the province.

AtBC Board of Director Elections

During the AGM, seven (7) AtBC Board positions will be filled through an election process. Three (3) regional Board seats are up for election:

Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Region
Northern BC Region
Vancouver Island Region
Elections will also be held for four (4) Directors at Large

2016 Fall Stakeholder Forum and AGM

AtBC is proud to be hosting its 2016 Annual General Meeting and Stakeholder Forum from October 25-26 at lelem’ Arts & Cultural Cafe and Kwantlen Cultural Centre in Fort Langley, BC. Over 75 Aboriginal tourism Stakeholders and partners are expected to attended from all areas of the province.

AtBC Board of Director Elections

During the AGM, six AtBC Board positions will be filled through an election process. Four (4) regional Board seats are up for election:

  • Kootenay Rockies Region
  • Northern BC Region
  • Thompson Okanagan
  • Vancouver Coast and Mountain Region

Elections will also be held for two (2) Directors at Large

2015 Fall Stakeholder Forum and AGM

  • Douglas Green, Director representing the Cariboo Chilcotin
  • George Taylor, Director at Large
  • Lillian Hunt, Director representing Vancouver Island
  • Brenda Baptiste, Director at Large
  • James Cowpar, Director at Large

2014 Fall Stakeholder Forum and AGM

Aboriginal Tourism Association of British Columbia (AtBC) Stakeholders attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Stakeholder Forum at the Quaaout Lodge & Spa at Talking Rock Golf Resort located in the Little Shuswap First Nation’s community, near Chase, BC. Over 75 Aboriginal tourism Stakeholders and partners attended from all areas of the province.

During the AGM, six AtBC board positions were filled through an election process:

  • Northern BC – Leslie Brown (HaiCo)
  • Thompson Okanagan – Sharon Bond (Kekuli Cafe in Westbank and Merritt)
  • Vancouver Coast and Mountains – Lori Simcox (Takaya Tours, Takaya Golf Centre)
  • Kootenay Rockies – Robin Louie (St. Eugene Resort)
  • At Large – Inez Cook (Salmon n' Bannock Restaurant)
  • At Large – Mike Willie  (Sea Wolf Adventures)

2013 Fall Stakeholder Forum and AGM

Aboriginal Tourism Association of British Columbia (AtBC) held their Annual General Meeting (AGM), Stakeholder Forum, and Explore Aboriginal BC Travel Trade Event this week at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center in Whistler and the Bill Reid Gallery in Vancouver. The events were well attended with Aboriginal tourism representatives attending from all parts of British Columbia.

During the AGM, six AtBC board positions were filled through an election process:

  • Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Region – Douglas Green (Cariboo Chilcotin Jetboat Adventures)
  • Kootenay Rockies Region – remained vacant
  • Vancouver Island Region – Lillian Hunt (U'mista Cultural Centre)
  • At Large Positions
         - a. Brenda Baptiste (Takaya Golf Centre)
         - b. George Taylor (Le-la-la Dancers)
         - c. Al Stobbart (Sasquatch Crossing Eco Lodge)

2012 AGM and Fall Stakeholder Forum

Aboriginal Tourism BC’s (AtBC) annual Stakeholder Forum and AGM showcased its significant development in marketing and product development to businesses and dignitaries, and elected five officials to its board. AtBC stakeholders met at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel November 7th - 8th. This was attended by the biggest audience in recent history with close to 100 guests from all over the province. An evening travel-trade networking event at the Bill Reid Gallery on Tuesday attracted a sizeable audience of over 65 industry partners as well as travel writers and guests from the tourism industry. At the forum, AtBC stressed its continued support of new initiatives that recognize the authenticity of the Aboriginal tourism experiences, updated regional planning, presented about the development of an Aboriginal travel agency, and other exciting projects.

During the AGM, Five AtBC board positions were filled through an election process:

  • Vancouver Coast and Mountain - Wade Grant (Musqueam Nation)
  • Thompson Okanagan - Sharon Bond (Kekuli Café)
  • Northern BC - Leslie Brown (Haida House at Tllaal & West Coast Resort)
  • At Large positions:
  • a. Julie Baker (Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre)
  • b. Lori Simcox (Takaya Tours)

2011 AGM and Fall Stakeholder Forum

Aboriginal Tourism Association of British Columbia’s (AtBC) stakeholders met at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel November 16th – 19th. It was AtBC’s largest AGM and Stakeholder Forum ever and was a clear indication of the growth in the Aboriginal culture tourism sector in BC. There were approximately 100 AtBC stakeholders who attended from all parts of British Columbia. The Forum was the fifth AtBC led Stakeholder Forum since 2009 and AtBC arranged specific topics to assist the Aboriginal cultural tourism business community. The agenda included a review of the draft AtBC Five Year Plan, understanding the travel trade, product authenticity, plus a number of key topics related to cultural and interpretive centers.

Spring 2011 Stakeholder Forum

AtBC's fourth Stakeholder Forum was held on March 15 and 16 at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in downtown Vancouver. The event was a huge success with the more than 80 attendees maxing out available registration. The event featured presentations from AtBC's management team and contractors and generated a lot of positive discussion in the room.

2010 AGM & Fall 2010 Stakeholder Forum

The AtBC 2010 AGM and Stakeholder's Forum were held on Friday October 22 and Saturday October 23, 2010 at the Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport Hotel. More than 40 Stakeholders joined staff and the AtBC Board of Directors in two successful days of discussion, professional development, and networking.
