Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Park Cone Tour (Drop-in)

Did you know that about 350 years ago the Nass Valley had a volcano erupt! Right here in this beautiful serene valley, tons of lava flowed leaving behind miles and miles of hardened molten lava that now make up the Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Park. The only way to see the cone is with a guide. Independent access to the cone is prohibited by law. Take a ride on our bus along Nisga'a Highway 113 north to the Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Park.  Along the way your guide will share the history of the Nass River and introduce you to Nisga'a culture and their traditional ways of life. Your guide will share stories passed down from generation to generation of the great volcano. The lava beds at the base of the volcano, holds the souls of many Nisga'a that once occupied the valley. The lava beds hold much mystery and intrigue. Listen to the wind as you walk along the path to the cone, take in the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountains and appreciate the serenity of the lakes, and streams you pass.
