Xa:ytem Cultural Tour (6 hours)
Xa:ytem is the sacred site of a 9,000 year old Coast Salish village located one and a half hours east of Vancouver on the North bank of the Fraser River. The Sto:lo Nation has the only sacred transformer rock site in Canada that is available for the public to access and is home to the oldest house in British Columbia, older than the Egyptian Pyramids. There are two pit-houses, a longhouse and a carving shed at this powerful ”Singing Rock” site.
You will sample a part of Stó:lo life while participating with First Nation tour guides in traditional activities such as Salish weaving and adzing a dug-out canoe. Xa:ytem’s Gift Gallery offers quality native art, silver and gold jewellery, cedar weavings and carvings, bent boxes, drums, books and clothing. Your six-hour tour includes a Salmon lunch and transportation between Vancouver hotels and Xa:ytem.
