Talking Totem Tours

Haida Gwaii Railtour (10 days)

This ten-day railtour starts in Vancouver and travels through one of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the world. The railtour changes to a day cabin aboard BC Ferries as you travel to the Queen Charlotte Islands, a group of islands nestled under the Alaska panhandle. This vast wilderness is home to a full range of carnivores, including grizzly bears, mountain lions, eagles, wolves and wolverines. This is the ancestral home of the Haida, an UNESCO Heritage Site with the oldest and finest examples of totem poles in the world.

Trips depart from the Vancouver Rail Station and arrive the following day in Jasper where you will spend 2 nights. In Jasper, enjoy a tour of a near-by glacier. Then head to Prince George and Prince Rupert. On day 6, the tour continues with a 7-hour ferry ride (day-cabin is included) to Skidegate in the Queen Charlotte Islands.  In Skidegate you will switch ferries and sail 20 minutes to Sandspit, the entrance to the Gwaii Haanas National Park.

You will return to Vancouver from Skidegate by plane.
