
Lori Simcox is a member of the Tr’ondek Hwech’in First Nation and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) with the Canadian Association of Management Consultants. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from Royal Roads University. Ms. Simcox’s graduate consulting work involved First Nation Administration strategic planning.
An independent consultant, Ms. Simcox has led several consulting projects for the Federal government, worked on projects for private small business and worked extensively as an internal management consultant in several sectors for the Economic Development department of the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation in North Vancouver, BC. As an Executive Director for the Aboriginal Tourism Association of British Columbia, she participates on the Blueprint Implementation Advisory Committee and the Finance Committee. She sat on the technical working board for the Four Host First Nation’s Olympic Secretariat and is involved in the development and management of Takaya Tours Inc., an award-winning First Nation-owned and operated tourism business. As well, she was involved in the delivery of several government-funded research contracts.
Ms. Simcox also provides support for Takaya Developments, a First Nation real estate development company and was involved in teaching a course on Aboriginal Tourism at the Canadian Tourism College in Vancouver. Further experience includes work for Imagination Youth Marketing as a Sales and Information Coordinator and for Human Resources Development in the Yukon in student employment.
Ms. Simcox has worked extensively with local Chamber of Commerce, and has made several presentations to Native Education Centre and Capilano College students regarding First Nation tourism and entrepreneurship.
Ms. Simcox main focus, education and experience are in business and community economic development.
