Frequently Asked Questions: Additional Information for Aboriginal Trade Pavilion

1. Will Klahowya Village continue to operate after the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion is operating?
Answer: Ideally, Klahowya Village should continue to remain as an attraction during the summer season and will compliment the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion.
2. What are the services AtBC picture being offered at the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion?
Answer: AtBC is hoping for ideas that will be suitable for the location and be financially sustainable. i.e. business centre, cultural center, performance area, food services.
3. Will the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion offer different services than Klahowya Village?
Answer: The Aboriginal Trade Pavilion can offer similar or different services than Klahowya Village as the Trade Pavilion will become a permanent structure and be operationally all year-round. The successful proponent will need to eventually review how the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion and the Klahowya Village can operate.
4. Will some of the services currently being offered by Klahowya Village also be offered by the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion?
Answer: Klahowya Village attraction should compliment and add to the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion.
5. Do you have a site plan, floor plan, or room dimensions of the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion?
Answer: For site location and dimensions, please refer to Appendix C – Site Location Map within the RFP. There is currently no floor plan or room dimensions for the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion. The successful proponent will need to supply AtBC with building concept and architectural renderings as part of the key contract deliverables.
6. Are there any restrictions in making modifications to the Barn yard exterior/interior?
Answer: Currently, no restriction in making modifications to the Barn Yard. However, the goal is to establish a permanent facility and the current condition of the Barn Yard will not be suitable for the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion. A major upgrade or brand new building is highly recommended.
7. Is there a load carrying capacity on the main floor, what is it, is there a basement or is it on concrete slab?
Answer: No basement. Building rests onto a concrete slab.
8. What is the parking capacity?
Answer: There is the main parking lot by the Transit loop and then a lower parking lot across Pipeline Road. Total parking available can easily accommodate 100+ cars.
9. What is the ownership and lease agreement and the cost to use the facility?
Answer: The lease agreement with the Vancouver Parks Board is negotiable. AtBC will be responsible in operating and maintaining the Aboriginal Trade Pavilion.
