Kootenay Wilderness Tours & CrossRiver Wilderness Centre

Kootenay Wilderness Tours & CrossRiver Wilderness Centre operates at the edge of Kootenay and Banff National Parks, in the scenic Canadian Rockies. Guests enjoy ecologically-sensitive wilderness adventures such as rafting, hiking and mountain biking and can participate in cultural packages focused on the culture of First Nations peoples, sharing ancient teachings as well as native ceremonies and music, such as the traditional healing and purification lodge (sweat lodge), drumming, council fire gathering, or pipe ceremony with a Native Elder. All First Nations activities are authentic, respectfully shared and true to ancient beliefs and ancestral traditions. Here you can connect with the Land, and experience the many hidden treasures and pleasures of this spectacular mountain region. Accommodations are located at the mountain retreat ''CrossRiver Wilderness Centre'' and can be in either comfortable log cabins or in traditional teepees placed on raised wooden platforms, traditionally decorated with a central fire pit. ‘’CWC’’ is located in a remote wilderness area, is accessible by road and role models self sustainable, environmentally friendly practices by generating all its own power and heating requirements “naturally”. All meals are served fresh using primarily organic and natural products as well as some wild meats such as Buffalo, Elk and Salmon.
