CANOE OR KAYAK THROUGH PARADISE
AN ABORIGINAL VIEW OF BRITISH COLUMBIA’S WATERS

(Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) --- Paddle ancient water highways through the pristine wilderness of British Columbia in a canoe or kayak with well-trained aboriginal guides for an adventure to remember. The spectacular natural beauty soothes the mind, while old growth forests, pictographs, glyph and ancient village sites come to life through the eyes of a people who have lived there for thousands of years. Paddlers will often witness bald eagles, harbour seals, cormorants, sea lions, bears, dolphins, porpoises, otters and other marine wildlife in their natural habitat. Days are immersed in water adventures while the evenings might include a salmon barbeque with native dancers and comfortable lodging under a sky blanketed with starlight.

Along the coast local indigenous guides conduct kayak tours through waters used by humpback, gray, orca and minke whales throughout the year as an ocean highway for migration north or south, often on their way to breeding or feeding grounds. Inland the rivers and lakes provide calm waters set in majestic forests. Guests visit ancient village sites while experiencing First Nations lands, lore and people. The choices are many – from a leisurely paddle in an ocean-going canoe, a journey through time in a traditional-style war canoe or in a dugout canoe – each an authentic First Nation experience unique to the area. Sea kayaking is offered in both protected and exposed waters to satisfy experienced and novice paddlers.

Guides are trained in water safety and assist guests with paddling instruction and safety procedures. As students of their history, language, and marine ecology, they enjoy sharing the history and traditions of the area through narrative, song, and storytelling.

Through workshops and tours, Aboriginal operators strive to deliver a culturally rich event that will fascinate their guest’s intellect and touch their hearts. Canoe and kayak trips are available from two hours duration to seven days and are available along the coast and inland waterways of British Columbia most of the year.
